When you need to replace your AirPods

(A) Free replacement by Apple due to a manufacturing defect

If one of your AirPods earbuds (or the case itself) breaks due to a manufacturing defect within the first two years of the date of purchase, Apple should provide you with a free replacement under the legal warranty.

(B) Free battery service as part of AppleCare +

If you participate in Apple’s Premium Service Program and only the battery is affected, you will receive a free replacement. This applies to both single or both earplugs or the charging case. The prerequisite is that the performance of the corresponding battery has fallen below 80% of the original capacity.

(C) Replacement in the event of accidental damage as part of AppleCare + for a service fee of € 29

If you participate in Apple’s Premium Service Program and you accidentally damage one or both earplugs or the charging case, you will receive a replacement for a service fee of € 29 per incident. During the term of the service program, Apple will grant up to two such replacements. Unfortunately, loss or theft are not covered in this context.

(D) Chargeable battery service under the Apple warranty

Within the first year of your purchase, Apple will replace your Airpods with low batteries at a reduced price of € 55 per earbud or charging case. In addition, there are shipping costs of € 12.90 if you do not pick up in the Apple Store.

This case should only occur if the Airpods are used very intensively – if the battery performance deteriorates significantly in the first year after purchase, there may also be a manufacturing defect. In this case, you are entitled to a free replacement by Apple within the scope of the statutory warranty (see above).

(E) Airpod replacement parts outside of warranty, Apple warranty, or without AppleCare +

In some situations, Apple service can be very expensive and you should carefully consider how to get the replacement parts you need as quickly and cheaply as possible.

• Loss or theft
• Accidental damage without AppleCare +
• Battery discharge after the one-year warranty has expired or without AppleCare +
• Manufacturing defects after the two-year warranty period has expired
